Our update on EEOC verdicts and settlements for February 2011 after the break.

OR – Pacific Seafood agreed to pay $85,000 to settle a retaliation suit brought by the EEOC on behalf of a former worker who alleged he was fired after he expressed concerns to management about receiving a smaller raise than a non-Hispanic co-worker.

CA – A school bus operator will pay $150,000 to settle a sexual harassment and retaliation suit brought on behalf of four female employees who alleged they were harassed by their supervisor and then retaliated against after complaining to management.

PA – A copper manufacturer will pay $85,000 to settle a disability discrimination suit brought on behalf of a job applicant who alleged that his job offer was rescinded because of his participation in a medically supervised drug treatment program.

NY – The Village of Amityville and the Amityville Fire Department agreed to pay $209,280 to settle a class action age discrimination suit brought by the EEOC on behalf of a group of volunteer firefighters over age 65 who alleged they were denied the opportunity to accrue credit towards a “length of service award.”

LA – A construction firm agreed to a $110,000 settlement in a sexual harassment and retaliation suit brought on behalf of a former employee who alleged she was sexually harassed by her male supervisor and then fired after she opposed the harassment.
