Here are some notes on recent legislative activity.

A bill has been introduced in Virginia that would grant employees four hours of annual leave for school-related meetings or volunteer activities.  It would also create a new cause of action for employees that suffer an adverse employment action as the result of taking school-related leave.

The FMLA Blog reports that a bill expanding the FMLA is on the President’s desk and he is expected to sign it.

The Workplace Prof Blog reports that the Senate will be considering a bill to amend Title VII to deal with the Supreme Court’s decision in Ledbetter last year.  The bill has passed the House.  It would change Title VII to provide that an unlawful practice occurs each time compensation is paid pursuant to a discriminatory compensation decision or other practice.
