Welter Law Firm Adds New Associate in Virginia

Douglas J. Smith joins the firm’s team in the Washington, D.C. region
Herndon, VA (May 16, 2016) — Welter Law Firm, P.C. (Welter) has added Douglas J. Smith to the firm’s growing team of employment law and litigation attorneys serving the firm’s clients nationwide. Mr. Smith will serve as an Associate in the firm’s Northern Virginia office.
Mr. Smith received his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law in Washington, D.C., where he was a member of the Catholic University Law Review. Prior to and during law school, he was an Advisor in the United States Senate for Sen. John McCain for six years.
Following law school, Mr. Smith served as a clerk for The Honorable Claude M. Hilton of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, the “rocket docket.” In that role he composed bench memoranda, orally briefed motions each week, and drafted memorandum opinions and orders for civil cases involving business and employment law matters.
Mr. Smith is licensed to practice in Virginia and is admitted before both the Virginia Supreme Court and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. He is a member of the Federal Bar Association and Virginia Bar Association and serves on the Board of Stewards of the Jonathan House, a non-profit organization. Learn more about Douglas J. Smith.
